What is Athena and how to grow with it? Part 1
How to grow with Athena? Part 1
Athena is a fertiliser brand that sets itself apart from competitors with the slogan: "Athena is not a line of nutrients, it is a programme". With this phrase they emphasise their greatest strength: the distribution of growing knowledge. They are the only fertiliser brand that sells the product and teaches you all the details you need to achieve the same results as elite growers.
Developed and tested by JungleBoys, Athena Fertilisers have arrived to stay. Before developing Athena, the JungleBoys team grew with HGV. They decided to launch their own fertiliser brand similar to HGV to achieve "The perfect run".
In this blog post, you can read a summary of the growing guide developed by the Athena team, which you can find at the following link:

In this article we will explain how to grow with Athena by hand or with automatic watering, without substrate sensors (we will not explain precision irrigation or crop steering). We focus on how to grow it as simply as possible.
NOTE: The numbers in this manual are a bit odd because the Athena programme was developed using the imperial system and later translated into the metric system. Don't be surprised to see numbers like 3.79 litres (this is a gallon).
Why do we explain how to grow it in the simplest way possible?
In Spain, most growers are not sophisticated. Many grow rooms don't have CO2 generators or substrate sensors and terms like crop steering seem very distant. You may not be convinced to grow with Athena because you think you need to do it the way the pros do it in the USA when in practice it's not like that.
Many people think that using Athena produces flowers with fewer terpenes. At Growlobby we have verified with our own eyes that if you trust the programme and follow the advice of the Athena team that you can read in this entry, you will produce flowers close to the maximum genetic potential of the variety you are growing at that time.
If you don't believe us, ask the judges this year at Spannabis, where Milehighdave won with his "Dantes Inferno" grown in coco with the proline line. And sometimes he waters manually, without automatic irrigation.

Who can grow with Athena's Pro Line?
The PRO LINE is the range of Athena Fertilisers that has been designed for professional growers. This means you know how to grow and your grow room has all the necessary equipment for perfect environmental control and a reverse osmosis system for irrigation water. Made up of Pro Grow, Pro Core and Pro Bloom together with the Balance which provides calcium and magnesium.
For this line, it's normal to have a sealed grow room equipped with a reverse osmosis system for irrigation water, a humidifier, a dehumidifier, air conditioning and CO2 supplementation. With this equipment, you will be able to keep humidity, temperature and CO2 in the optimal range at all times.
Without these tools you won't have perfect environmental control. Without perfect environmental control, you won't be able to feed your plants with an EC of 3.0 without over-fertilising.
- PROS of the proline: it's cheaper and takes up less space. Also, it's a simplified three-part fertilisation programme.
- CONS of the proline: you need to mix the salts beforehand. You must have perfect environmental control to give it such a high EC.

What does Athena's Blended Line consist of?
Blended Line of Athena has been designed for growers who don't have perfect environmental control. For this reason, the recommended EC with this line is lower than the proline.
It is a line more similar to other brands of marijuana fertilisers made up of Grow A+B, Bloom A+B, Athena PK, Balance, CaMg, Cleanse and Fade.
- PROS of the blended line: it comes pre-mixed in bottles and is less demanding on your level.
- CONS of the blended line: it's more expensive. The bottles take up more space than their pro line equivalent and it's a 4-part fertilisation programme.
You can water manually with both lines. You don't need sophisticated irrigation equipment to grow with Athena. You can do it by hand. In part two of this post we will explain exactly how to do it
With this information in mind, decide which is your best option.

It looks like we're advertising for Athena in this blog post. The reality is that we have seen in some customers the increase in yield in weight and quality and we want our customers to try it.
