What are magic truffles or hallucinogenic truffles?

Magic truffles are sclerotia that consist of the underground part of fungi and are marketed as a product for research and collecting. There are different varieties that differ in size, morphology and effects.

Their development is underground and forms the vegetative part of the fungi we find in the mycelium. The mycelium is composed of a group of hyphae which are a cottony network that forms a very fine tissue.

The mycelium hardens to maintain the resulting fungi by retaining the water necessary for mushroom growth. These bodies that store food and water for times when it is not found are what we will later call magic truffles.

Properties of magic truffles:

Magic truffles are marketed exclusively for use in mycological studies and for collecting. Their ingestion is prohibited as they are not suitable for human consumption.
