Description
Of the four varieties that Silent Seeds has released with Julian Marley, this is the one that finishes fastest. It’s no small detail: outdoors, every week you cut earlier in October is a week less of risk.
The earliest finisher
It closes in 8 or 9 weeks of flowering, compared to the fixed 9 weeks of its three siblings, and outdoors it harvests in late September. The other three finish in early or mid-October.
In much of the peninsula that changes the equation. Cutting in the last week of September means dodging the first autumn rains and the drop in night temperatures that triggers botrytis in dense buds. You pay for that head start with slightly lower indoor production —550-580 g/m², the lowest figure in the line—, but it’s one of the feminised outdoor seeds that least depends on autumn being kind.
Sweet with a petrol undertone
The cross is Mendo Breath x Sunset Sherbet, and here you definitely notice the pedigree. From the Sunset Sherbet comes the creamy sweetness that spawned half the modern catalogue; from Mendo Breath, the earthy undertone and the gas.
The declared result is sweet, gassy and earthy: the only dessert profile of the four, against the diesel of King of Kings, the floral petrol of Special and the citrus of Mountain. If you’re growing more than one from the line, this is the one that brings contrast.
Moderate resistance, not bulletproof
Worth clarifying this because the two “Jamaicans” cost the same and get confused. The bank attributes it moderate natural resistance: it handles humidity, rain and wind without fuss, the norm for a well-made outdoor plant.
The Jamaican Mountain, on the other hand, does declare specific resistance to mildew and insects. So if your problem is fungus, the sister is the choice; if your problem is the calendar, this one is. Otherwise, it grows vigorous and branched, with an airy structure, wide internodes and 2.3-2.5 m height outdoors, where it reaches 1,500-1,750 g per plant.
