Description
The Bluelab EC Pen is a digital meter from Bluelab for monitoring the electrical conductivity (EC) of your nutrient mix. In pen format and very easy to use, it gives you accurate readings of nutrient concentration present in your irrigation solution. It's one of the most practical EC meters for day-to-day use.
Why use the EC Pen daily
To feed a plant properly you need to know how much base nutrient to add to the mix. When working with reservoirs, it's advisable to measure EC daily, compensate for it, and change the mix every 7-10 days so that concentration stays under control. The EC Pen also measures the temperature of the mix in the same reading.
Together with the Bluelab pH Pen it forms a precise system for monitoring the two key parameters of your nutrient solution: conductivity (how much food) and pH (whether the plant can absorb it).
