Cannabis seed germination

How to grow cannabis outdoors step by step?

  1. Once the seed has germinated, you can plant it in a growing medium. You'll need a suitable substrate for the plant's early life stages; we normally recommend using a Light-Mix type substrate that contains low nutrient levels and a loose texture in which plants can develop easily.
  2. Even if you're going to plant directly in the soil, you'll first need your plants to grow a bit and reach a minimum size of 20cm in height. So, after germinating our seeds, we'll transplant them to a small pot.
  3. The seed should be planted with the root facing downwards at a depth of approximately 1 cm and placed in a location that gets some light, in partial sun and shade, without receiving too many hours of direct sunlight.
  4. During the first weeks of life, it's important not to overwater and gradually acclimatise the plant to the sun, increasing sun exposure little by little each day. Once the plant has adapted, you'll need to be careful with watering and repot when its size requires it.

Growing cannabis in pots

After approximately two or three weeks, your plants will have grown enough to repot into a 3.5 litre pot.

You must be precise and use pots appropriate for each stage, as it's not the same using a fabric pot, ideal for intensive or hydroponic cultivation, as using long square pots, which are more compatible with large batches of seeds or cuttings.

During repotting, we'll need to bury 5 to 10 cm of the plant's stem to increase its strength and resistance. The more roots your plant has, the more nutrients it will absorb, ensuring more vigorous growth.

Repotting cannabis

Approximately one month later the stem will be robust enough to withstand the wind and you'll be able to place the pot outdoors without risk of damaging your crop.

The rest of the process is similar to indoor cultivation, although outdoors it can be easier because you don't have to worry about light changes as naturally the number of daylight hours will reduce until the flowering process is complete.

To improve your crop, there are numerous products you can use such as nets, stakes, boosters, etc.

When the plants stop growing, it will be time to repot into a larger pot so it can expand its root system and continue growing.

The next step after the 3.5 litre pot would be 11 or 18 litres, depending on whether later you want the plant to be bigger, and thus we can repot it into pots of the size you want, with a wide variety of grow pots available on our website. You can find plastic or fabric pots in a wide range of sizes up to 1890L in the case of Root Pouch.
