Cultilene Rockwool Block 40x40x40mm

Thanks to its porous texture and excellent capacity to retain air and water, the 40x40x40 mm rockwool block is ideal for rooting cuttings or germinating seeds. Rockwool is a mineral substrate made from volcanic lava: an inert, pH-neutral material that gives you total control over nutrition. It forms part of the growing substrates category.

How to prepare and use the blocks

As rockwool has an initially alkaline pH, before using the blocks you need to stabilise them to pH 5.5: soak them for a few hours in water with stable pH and EC 0.4-0.6. Also keep in mind:

• Place them on a black plastic surface to prevent roots penetrating, pathogen spread from soil and water accumulation.
• Use drainage to avoid excessive water retention.
• Insert the cutting or seed into the hole in the block.
• Keep them always moist and always water with nutrient solution.

They come lined with plastic to protect the roots. Once the cutting has rooted, you can transplant it to a larger block or to a rockwool slab for the growing phase.
