Description
Powder Feeding CalMag by Green House Feeding concentrates in a fully soluble powder 16.7% calcium oxide, 6% magnesium oxide and 13.5% nitrogen, almost entirely in nitric form (13.1%). It dissolves in irrigation water and nutrients become available to the plant immediately. It is a mineral fertiliser free from chlorine, sodium and heavy metals.
When and how much Green House CalMag to use
The general dosage ranges from 0.1 to 0.5 g per litre and depends mainly on your water:
- Reverse osmosis or rainwater: 0.5 g/L, which raises the EC to around 0.6.
- Hard water or rich substrates: not needed in every watering; Green House suggests 0.2 g/L once or twice a week.
- Foliar: 0.2 g/L every 10 days, only if there is calcium or magnesium deficiency.
At 1 g/L it provides 1.2 mS/cm, so with these such low doses it is easy to overdo it if you estimate by eye: an EC meter allows you to adjust the solution with precision.
How to combine it with the feeding schedule
Green House recommends it alongside their base fertilisers, such as Powder Feeding Hybrids, Short Flowering or Long Flowering, and with the Booster during the fattening stage. It also works as an independent supplement with fertilisers from other brands. What should not be done is mix it with another calcium additive.
As it provides nitrogen, the manufacturer suggests removing it from week 6 onwards and switching to Powder Feeding Calcium, a chelate that continues to provide calcium without adding more nitrogen until the end.
In installations with a dosing system (Dosatron, Netafim and similar) you can prepare a stock solution of 10 to 15 kg per 100 L of water.
