Afgooey

Afgooey circulated for years in Northern California as a clone-only cut. It was one of those legendary strains you couldn't buy as seed, until Green House Seeds released it for the first time in feminised format.

From clone to S1 seed

To achieve this, the bank reversed the sex of the original clone and crossed it with itself. That gives an S1: seeds that descend directly from the cut, with no second parent to dilute its traits. It's the most faithful way to bring a clone-only to seed.

Behind it lies Afgooey's classic genetics, Afghan x Maui Haze, with a split of 70% Indica and 30% Sativa. The Afghan contributes almost everything you see; the Maui Haze brings the fruity finish.

Built for Sea of Green

Afgooey is a short plant, with average internodal spacing of less than 5 cm, thick branches, a wide stem, and dark green leaves with overlapping leaflets. That compact architecture is exactly what Sea of Green and screen systems demand, and the bank recommends it expressly for both. If you're running it horizontally, a SCROG screen makes the most of that structure.

Another practical advantage: it tolerates high EC levels without stress and yields in any substrate. Indoors it completes flowering in eight weeks, with production up to 0.9 grams per watt under a 1000 W HPS. Outdoors, large Afgooey plants can exceed a kilo per plant of dried, manicured flower.

Old Afghan with a fruity twist

Afgooey's flavour recalls old-school Afghans: it opens earthy and kushy, then becomes sweeter and more fruity as it develops, with orange, lemon and tropical fruit. Fresh, before burning, the citrus notes dominate.

The buds form pear-shaped, thick and compact, with medium to large calyxes. Resin appears early in flowering and is very thick, and the plant starts to smell strongly by mid-cycle: if you're growing indoors, plan to filter the air from then on.
