Description
Worm Castings is a valuable organic fertiliser and ecological product designed to enrich your crops. This product in solid form is completely natural and serves a dual purpose by improving soil quality whilst providing protection to your plants.
Technical Characteristics of Worm Castings:
This fertiliser is obtained through the composting process carried out by worms from organic soil waste, resulting in a product completely free from fungi or other harmful elements. The humus is full of beneficial microorganisms that are generated during the biological process in the worm's intestine.
In addition to being rich in nutrients, worm castings contain a wide range of essential elements, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, manganese, iron, carbon, zinc and copper, which your cannabis plants can absorb to boost their growth and development.
Unlike conventional chemical fertilisers, the nutrients in worm castings are not immediately available to plants, which significantly reduces the risk of over-fertilisation. The nutrients must be broken down first by soil organisms, allowing for a gradual and controlled release.
Beyond its nutritional contribution, worm castings substantially improve soil quality in several ways:
- Improves soil aeration, which facilitates root respiration and growth, promoting strong and healthy root systems.
- Increases moisture retention in the soil, reducing the need for watering and helping to retain nutrients during watering.
- Stimulates microbial activity in the soil, benefiting soil health and reducing the presence of pests and pathogens.
- Promotes seed germination.
- Acts as a natural pest repellent such as mites, aphids and woodlice, by weakening the external protection of these insects.
Instructions for Using Worm Castings:
Worm Castings are versatile and adapt to all types of crops. It can be used as substrate, as soil and substrate improver, and as fertiliser, thanks to its NPK nutrient content and humic and fulvic acids.
It is recommended to apply this solid fertiliser at the beginning of the growing cycle or directly on the top layer of soil. The recommended proportion varies depending on the type of substrate, but as a general rule, mixing 20% Worm Castings with 80% substrate is a useful guide to avoid over-abundance of nutrients in the soil.
After achieving a homogeneous mixture, you can plant your plants and perform an initial watering to activate the microorganisms and beneficial properties of Worm Castings. Its gradual nutrient release minimises the risk of burns or stress from over-fertilisation, even if your substrate already contains other natural fertilisers.
