Description
A perfect feeding schedule is of little use if the water pH is out of range: at a certain point the plant stops absorbing elements that are there, dissolved and available. Xpert Nutrients pH Down corrects this downward adjustment with 59% phosphoric acid and keeps the solution in the working window recommended by the brand, between 5.5 and 6.5.
Why concentration matters
Not all pH adjusters work the same. A highly concentrated acid will correct a large reservoir with a few drops, but in a 20-litre container it's easy to overshoot. An organic one is gentler, although it requires using much more product and shifts the pH less.
The 59% concentration of this pH Down sits at the midpoint: enough to adjust large reservoirs without emptying the bottle and with room for manoeuvre in smaller volumes. It completes the Xpert Nutrients range and works equally in growth and flowering.
How to adjust pH step by step
First add the fertilisers and additives to the water, stir, and only then measure the pH. Each nutrient shifts the value, so correcting before completing the mix forces you to repeat the work.
From there, add the pH Down in drops and gradually, measuring between additions with a reliable meter such as the Bluelab pH Pen, and repeat until you reach the target. The exact amount changes depending on the nutrient concentration and the purity of the starting water, which is why the manufacturer doesn't set a ml per litre.
Handling and storage
It is an acid and should be treated as such: gloves and eye protection, and always add the product to water, never the other way round. Never mix directly with a pH raiser, and if it splashes in the eyes, wash with plenty of water and seek medical attention. The manufacturer labels it as harmful if swallowed and irritant to skin and eyes.
Store it closed, in its original container, in a cool, dry place between 5 and 28 °C, away from direct light and out of reach of children and animals. Do not refrigerate. Unopened, it maintains its properties for three years.
