Dolomite Mycoterra 1.5 kg

As substrate acidifies throughout the cycle, calcium and magnesium become unavailable even though they remain present. Mycoterra Dolomite is the corrector that prevents this scenario: a dolomitic rock powder that acts as a buffer and keeps pH around 6.5, the range in which the plant absorbs best. It fits among the solid fertilisers that are incorporated when preparing the substrate.

What Dolomite adds to the substrate

Its content is 30% CaO and 18–20% MgO, with traces of sulphur, iron and manganese. Being a carbonate, it doesn't release all at once: it releases calcium and magnesium gradually throughout the entire growing cycle, so a single application covers the whole cycle.

This dual contribution matters because calcium and magnesium compete for absorption, and correcting only one usually unbalances the other. Dolomite incorporates both together and in stable proportion, whilst raising the pH of acidic substrates such as peat.

How and when to apply it

The dose is 1 g per litre of substrate: about 50 g in a 50 L bag, or about 11 g in an 11-litre pot. Mix dry and evenly during substrate preparation, before planting. It is not a product for watering or for mid-cycle correction.

In a super soil it is one of the first components to go in the mix: first fix the pH and then add the rest of the amendments and microbiology, such as the mycorrhizae from Kraken Micorrizas en Polvo WP, also from Mycoterra. With the 1.5 kg container you have enough for 1,500 litres of substrate.
